venation well serrated, dark green; buds large, obtuse, with green scales; flower 8-9 cm
across, full, cherry-red, sometimes with white marks; petals of the circumference, 1-2 rows,
oblong, twisted, rose coloured, becoming deeper to the centre, sometimes scallopped,
changing at the centre to a small, compact, upright, close packed cluster of spherical form,
about 5 cm in diameter with some stamens, similar to ‘Waratah Alba’. Orthographic errors:
